Stewardship (Kejimkujik
National Park, October 2005) - Road mortality is a serous threat to
Blandings turtle hatchlings, juveniles, and adults, especially those females
(and their young) who choose to lay their eggs near or along roads. This photo
(above) shows a Blandings turtle hatchling recently killed by a vehicle in
Kejimkujik National Park. We are doing our best to work with governments to
install warning signs where turtles are at greatest risk of road mortality.
