Stewardship
(Kejimkujik
National Park, June 2005) – Each year dozens of people volunteer to patrol
known nesting areas for Blandings turtles. They carefully observe from a safe
distance, until a female finishes nesting, at which point they approach the nest
and cover it with a wire mesh cage to prevent predation.
